University of Karachi: A Legacy of Excellence

The University of Karachi, established in 1951 by an act of the Pakistan Parliament, stands as a cornerstone of higher education and research in the region. Spanning a vast 1,279-acre campus situated 12 km from the city center, the university has evolved from a small examining body into the nation's largest premier learning center. Today, it hosts over 41,000 regular students and is supported by a dedicated faculty of 700 highly qualified teachers. Academic Structure and Global Reach

Under its diverse academic umbrella, the University of Karachi operates through eight specialized faculties: Arts, Science, Islamic Studies, Pharmacy, Management & Administrative Sciences, Engineering, Law, and Education. With 53 departments and 20 world-class research institutes, the university provides a comprehensive range of BS, MS, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs. Beyond its campus boundaries, it also serves as a governing body for 145 affiliated colleges, overseeing the examinations and degree awards for approximately 150,000 students, ensuring a standardized level of educational quality across the province of Sindh.
