Pakistan Academy of Sciences Overview

Founded in 1953 following the proposal at the 1st National Educational Conference in 1947, the Academy was inaugurated during the 5th Pakistan Science Conference. Its governance is carried out by an elected Council, and it comprises Fellows, Foreign Fellows, and Members recognized for their exceptional scientific achievements. The Academy operates independently as a non-governmental and non-political organization, providing guidance on scientific development and representing Pakistan in international scientific forums.

The Academy’s key objectives include promoting advanced studies and research, setting scientific standards, publishing scholarly work, fostering international scientific collaboration, awarding grants and scholarships, advising governmental bodies on scientific matters, and managing funds for the development of scientific projects.
